Alright, we are on #thefarmhouseproject and it has had twists and turns, but we are already almost to the finish line. If you aren't familiar with some of the twist and turns you can watch Josh's farmhouse remodel series here. He talks about what they found behind the walls AND under the floor. We also talk about some of the details that have went into this remodel here.
We are pretty excited about this project and all the customizations that are going into it and we wanted to share some of the deets with you, so let's get into it.
Before Construction
Our Vision
Our clients have already completed extensive renovations on the rest of this old farmhouse. It's been in their family for years, so they've restored it's charm and put a stamp of their own on it. This includes green cabinetry, a navy accent wall, and stained matched millwork. So we plan to bring all those elements into this remodel as well.
Our plan is to create a beautiful back entry (this is the main door they use) with a functional custom storage/bench piece that will make it easy to drop your belongings and put on or take off your shoes. We are also creating a guest and future kids bath, which is also the only bath downstairs so we are going all out.
The Materials
Our client so badly wanted a herringbone brick floor when they remodeled their kitchen, but she wasn't 100% sure about it. So we pitched the idea of having it in the mudroom and it took all of 5 sec. for her to be on board. So we plan to have thin brick as you walk into the mudroom with a green built in that matches the color of the cabinetry in the kitchen.
Then as you walk into the back entry, to your right will be the new guest/kids bath. We are bringing in the green cabinetry color onto the floor with a custom vintage flower number, but we are taking it a step further and putting the flower tile in a custom inlay. Our goal is to bring vintage character into this old farmhouse so it seems like it could have been original to the house. We are bringing the navy that's throughout the home into the bathroom with a navy vanity and mixing gold and black metals to bring in some vintage and modern charm.
